What kind of fun would you possible have over spring break without a few essential elements? As the break gets closer you might already be making plans for the holiday time with your friends and family. Of course, as you make your plans remember to include the essence of what itís all about.
Essential 1: Rest
Spring break is designed to be a break from all of the hard work youíve been doing at school. You canít rest and relax if youíre not able to sit back and just take a breather every now and again. Of course, some of us relax better when weíre actually putting our bodies to good use. You might volunteer
on a mission trip or take on a skiing or hiking vacation to burn off some steam, and thatís great. Thereís nothing better than a long soak in a hot tub or a good nightís sleep after hammer all day long, but donít plan on staying up all day and night partying Ė you need better rest than that.
Essential 2: Good Friends
At school you are surrounded by all of your friends
, both close friends and those who arenít quite as close. When youíre on a break through, like spring break, itís more about your very best friends than a group of people youíre trying to impress. This is a time to have a sleepover and wear pajama pants for a day. This isnít a time to try and keep up your school social status youíve worked so hard for. Remember, itís a break Ė not an ongoing social climb.
Essential 3: Me Time
One of the most important things you can do for yourself over the spring break is to take time off from everything and just focus on you. Take some time just for yourself and sit down and soak in a bathtub or maybe grab a journal and then document some of your thoughts and feelings about the week. You can really take some time to dig down deep into your mind and imagination over spring break
. After all, your mind is still prepped for learning and exploring since youíve been in school until now, but itís also a time to rest and let all of the thinking youíve done lately come together into real thoughts.
Essential 4: ExerciseExercise
is always good for us, but itís even better when youíre trying to take a break from the norm. Make it a point to go for a long walk every day and just soak in the sun while you briskly march around the neighborhood or take a long nature walk on a trail in your area. You need to work up a sweat and get some exercise. The exercise youíre getting will help your body work out plenty of toxins, and the exercise might also help you lose a bit of weight as well. Even if itís just a few pounds, as you go to put on your spring clothing, youíll notice how much better they feel and how great you feel being healthy heading back into school for the final weeks.
