have been popular throughout time. Entire civilizations have been developed by women, and powerful groups of girls are found throughout history and mythology. Amazon Women and Muses anyone? As all girls know, when a group of females unite in a common cause, the results can be amazing. For those that need a bit of reminding about chick power, just tune into a few episodes of Sailor Moon.
I’ll admit I’ve never seen the Japanese versions of Sailor Moon,
but I know enough people that have to say that the Japanese version is probably better than the American one. Of course the Japanese episodes of Sailor Moon were the original ones based on the manga series, and originals are almost always better. It wasn’t until years later that the US and Canada got onboard the anime wagon and starting dubbing the Japanese versions and making all new episodes.
That being said, I still really like the not so original versions of the story. That means I like the US versions I’ve seen on television. I’ve also been known to catch a few missed episodes online – just to make sure I stay current on the series. And now there are even Sailor Moon dolls here on The Doll Palace. What could be better?
For those that don’t already know, Sailor Moon is the title of an anime series and also the main character – kind of. The actual main character of the show is named Serena, and she has a special power that lets her transform into a superhero style chick named Sailor Moon. She then takes on all kinds of enemies with the help of her Sailor friends.
Serena learns about her powers from a talking cat she helps save one morning before school. As she goes through fight after fight against the Dark Kingdom she learns even more about who she was in a past life and what is to become of her in this one. Along the way, others join the fight. My personal favorite is Sailor Mercury.
Sailor MercurySailor Moon
may be the star of the show, but her blonde ditsy-ness isn’t that appealing to me. Maybe I just have a thing about blowing off school (I prefer to NOT blow off school), but I really like Amy – codename:
Sailor Mercury. If she were a real person rather than an anime character, I’d have a ton of respect for her and probably try to get to know her better so we could hang out.
Amy is the smart one in the bunch. She is essentially the resident genius of the group. Poor Amy was originally an outcast since she was so smart and different than everyone else, but then she happened to help Serena out in a battle and got her own special powers. Now she is the smartest of the bunch and has some of the coolest powers. I think I might be Sailor Mercury in my next life. Even her outfit is cuter than everyone else’s, but I’m sure everyone has her own favorite.
